The children attending our Barkerend nursery have opened our very own ice cream shop! They have all been sharing what their favourite ice creams are and making ice creams for our friends.

All this week we are joining in with the NHS Big Tea Celebration with all things tea related, we will be painting, smelling, tasting, guessing how many teabags are in the jar and decorating lots of yummy biscuits to go with our tea themed week. The Halifax Pre-school children have been doing lots of physical play outdoors using different equipment for balancing and climbing. They were helping and supporting each other too which was great to see using all the values we promote at Children's Place.

The children attending our Barkerend nursery have enjoyed exploring plants and flowers. Some of the children enjoyed making their very own potions and other children enjoyed drawing pictures of the flowers.
The Dewsbury pre-school children were very excited to receive their caterpillars which they are now nurturing until they grow into beautiful butterflies and will release them into our wonderful natural garden. The Pre-School children recently took part in a sports day. They had the opportunity to take part in lots of fun activities including running, sack, bean bag and egg and spoon races. The children were especially excited and proud to receive a medal and certificate at the end of the day to share with their family.
The children found lots of ladybirds on a bamboo tree in our sensory part of the garden. They were fascinated and it led to lots of amazing questions from the children and they all learnt some wonderful ladybird facts … who knew there are 5000 different species of lady birds and can live between 1-2 years!
We have already started celebrating the Queen's Platinum Jubilee, the children enjoyed painting using traditional Union Jack flag colours, we used kitchen foil which made a noise every time the children made a mark! This was so much fun.
The Barkerend pre-school children have shown an interest in building and construction. The staff set up the builders' tray and the children absolutely loved it, we then extended this activity out into the garden on a larger scale.
